Before The Big Day
Plan Your Day
This will be a full day, with more than you can cover if your girls participate in anything. Discuss with your girls what they want to see along with the vendors you may want to get information from, and make a basic plan. This could always include some booths you want to be sure to visit along with whatever grabs your attention when you are there. This seems to happen anyway. You will be at the fairgrounds for the length of time you and your girls want to, and younger may get tired, but try to plan your stay for as long as you can. I previous years many troops said afterwards they didn't have enough time to do all they wanted to. Some wanted to stay longer but parent pick-up was pre-arranged at an earlier time. In your plan try to attend a performance or two so you and your girls can have some time to sit in the bleachers for a lengthy time off your feet while enjoying the performance.
Some activities will be very popular and may have lines. Please be prepared for this. There will be a second rope bridge along with a process so troops can do other things in the area hopefully without having to wait in line for a lengthy time. There may be no lines early in the day, but the more the day goes on the longer the line. You may want to keep that in mind while doing your planning. The climbing wall may be another very popular activity this year.

Food
There will be food sold from the beginning of the event until around 2:00. It will include hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, cookies, and drinks. Lines may be long so troops may want to bring their own food, so plan accordingly.

Weather
Make sure girls are prepared for the weather. Booths and activities will be in the Multi-Purpose Building, in the Livestock Barn, which will be partially open if the weather is nice, and out around the fairgrounds. Weather has been up and down this spring so . check the forecast and make sure all girls and adults dress for the weather in. Remember hats, ponchos and proper footware, as much of Adventure Day involves walking around on dirt which could be muddy if it has rained recently. Girls must have closed toe sturdy shoes, and if they plan to cross the rope bridge or climb on the wall shoes will need non-slick soles also. Please note though, if it is raining that day the climbing wall be not be used for safety reasons.
Safety & Behavior
Prior to the event instruct girls on safety and behavior expectations. Depending on troop size, maturity and your comfort level with girls, set guidelines for your girls staying together. Girls should use the buddy system, and you may want to keep the whole troop together the entire time, or you may feel comfortable letting older, mature buddies move around some on their own. If a girl does find herself separated from the troop, she should know to either go to the information booth, or tell another adult or a person in an orange staff shirt. They will then be escorted to the information booth, which will be the lost child location.
Although this may be a crowded event, it is still a Girl Scout event, and girls should remember to be courteous and act as Girl Scouts to both fellow scouts and the vendors. Please remember to use resources wisely and let girls only take materials if they will be of use to them.

On The Big Day
Parking
The fairgrounds has a parking lot out front and then a grass field will be used for overflow parking. There will be someone in the parking lot if it fills up to direct you to the overflow lot. When parking in the main lot please park your vehicle directly in front of the concrete bumper for that spot so we can get the most cars in. If you have to park in the overflow lot place park about 3’ – 4’ from the vehicle next to you.
Check-In
The check-in booth will be in front of the Multi-Purpose Building. If you are checking in your troop, please only have one adult come over to the correct table and have your troop wait with another adult. The Chick-fil-A booth will be near by so girls can go visit it and spin for their Chick-fil-A coupon. They will be leaving around 12:00.
If Pre-Registered
You will be directed to the proper line and will just need to check-in with your final numbers. Girls and adults can still be added at this time.
If Not Pre-Registered
You should bring a filled in registration form, which is available from the Registration Page of this website, along with a cash or check payment. If you do not have a copy of the registration form, you can fill one out at the check-in booth. This will cause a delay in your entrance and at the check-in booth though.

They can also direct you to the isolated 1st aiding location also. Extra Adventure Day patches will be available to buy at the booth also.

The 1st aid will be provided by the Adventure Day staff. There will be an isolated first aid station inside the Multi-Purpose Building, but staff at the Information Booth will be able to either escort you to the location or call for assistance.
Gas
The price of gas around Warrenton has been around $2.30 a gallon. If you're coming from areas with more expensive gas plan on filling up while you're in the area.
